When we were placed on the waiting list, on January 23, 2009, we began a weekly tradition. Every Friday we would change the magnet on our fridge to the number of weeks we had been waiting. They looked like this…

The final magnets read, “48 Weeks Waiting”, which I unfortunately did not get a picture of. After we received our referral, we started the process over. Every week we would change the magnet to the number of weeks we had been waiting for a court date. We waited over 8 weeks.

Now, we have a new tradition…a more exciting tradition. We can FINALLY count down to something. We can finally look forward and feel hope that there is an end in sight. Now, everyday the number gets smaller. Today, our fridge looks like this…


The most exciting change will come when the magnets start counting down to our departure date!!! The wait for a court date was excruciating at times. I found myself just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Not productive. Michael and I both feel that receiving a court date was, in a way, more exciting than receiving a referral. This is really going to happen. She is really going to be coming home soon. I can’t stop smiling. God is so faithful.

Now, I just pray that we pass the first time and the rest of the families waiting for a court date get one REALLY soon!
